Founded in 2001, Dacheng Shanghai is among the first partnership law firms in Shanghai. By constantly enhancing localization advantages and lawyer competence, we stand out as an important legal service team in Shanghai’s lawyer community. Currently, we have around 800 employees, including about 600 practicing lawyers. Nearly half of the practicing lawyers are multilingual lawyers who have graduated from prestigious foreign law schools or have worked abroad. In recognition of our reliable legal services and exceptional capabilities, we were successively awarded such honorary titles as “National Advanced Party Organization of the Lawyer Profession”, “Top 10 Law Firms in Shanghai” and “Outstanding Law Firm in Shanghai”. 

Since 2017, we have launched a strategic policy of transforming from scale development to professional construction and has built up lawyer teams by professions and industries. In addition to continuously improving professional competences in traditional practice areas, we have stepped into emerging fields such as financial technology, artificial intelligence, compliance, ESG, and new energy vehicles in respond to the Chinese government’s planning on the development of strategic emerging industries. Our new service solutions have been widely recognized by customers. We have also taken a considerable market share in the legal service markets of energy & natural resources, technologies, TMT, biomedicine, energy conservation, environmental protection, and high-end manufacturing. In 2023, we received the “Carbon Neutral Certificate” granted by the Shanghai Environment and Energy Exchange Corporation, becoming one of the few Chinese law firms that has achieved carbon neutrality.

In 2011, we took the lead in establishing the Party Committee within our organization, and successively established China’s first law firm-based returnees’ organization, the largest female lawyers’ association in China, and the first law firm-based youth league committee in Shanghai, as well as more than 10 cultural and sports associations to enhance our cohesion and unity. We have many lawyers elected as municipal/district party representatives, deputies to the National People’s Congress, and members of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference to engage in the deliberation of state affairs. Over the years, the majority of our lawyers have participated in public welfare practices such as making charitable donations to help the needy and the poor, and providing legal aid services to actively promote the Chinese traditions of serving the overall interests, repaying the society, dedicating love, and undertaking social responsibility.

In the future, we will stay true to our original aspiration, forge ahead, follow the national strategies, and contribute our professional strength to the take-off of China’s economy. At the same time, we will continue to explore new paths for the reform and development of law firms in the new era, and take solid steps towards the goal of growing from bigger to stronger, and from the largest to the leading.
