Gretchen Liu serves as a senior partner of Dentons Shanghai.
Before joining theFirm, Gretchen served as a police officer and has ten years of civil andcommercial trial work experience in the intermediate People’s court. Until now,she has practiced law for nearly 30 years.
Gretchen also servesas an arbitrator of several arbitration institutions and a consulting expert oncivil and administrative litigation supervision cases of the SupremeProcuratorate.

Representeda listed company in a dispute over liability for infringement of rights andinterests of shareholders with the amount of equity transferred over RMB 1 billion.All requests of the other party have not been supported;
Represented a direct sellingcompany in a dispute over the transfer of equity interests, involving thetransfer of equity interests, direct selling licenses, and divestiture ofassets, with the subject matter exceeding RMB 800 million, and denied allarbitration requests from the other party;
Represented a company’sequity transfer dispute amounting to hundreds of millions yuan. The caseinvolved the equity transfer, debt obligation, tax payment, and other disputesof jointly investing in the establishment of a cooperative company,obtaining effective judgment in the first and second instances in favour of theclient;
Represented a listed companyin a dispute over the equity transfer contract, with the equity transferamounting to hundreds of millions, and achieved good litigation results throughlitigation representation;
Represented a well-known realestate company in a dispute over a joint venture and cooperative real estatedevelopment contract. The case was complicated and went through the proceduresof the local middle court, high court, up to the Supreme Prosecutor's protest,retrial by the Supreme Court, a remand by the Supreme Court, and retrial by thelocal court in the first and second instance,securing successful verdictsfor clients through litigation representation;
Represented a well-knownconstruction company in a series of construction contract disputes, involvingover RMB 3 billion, and achieved good litigation results through litigationrepresentation;
Provided legal services for a Fortune 500 company in a dispute over anindependent letter of guarantee for foreign investment involving a subjectmatter over RMB 1 billion;
Provided comprehensive legal services for a bank in a dispute over afinancial loan contract, including non-litigation negotiation, litigation, andenforcement, involving a loan principal of over RMB 2 billion;
Provided legal services for a trust company in a series of financialloan contract disputes, involvinga subject matter of over RMB 2 billion;
Provided legal services to a number of private equity firms in disputesover outbound investments, share transfers, and equity exits;
