Georgeis a partner of Dispute Resolution Group in Dentons Shanghai office. He hasover 18 years of experience on general corporate issues, dispute resolution andcollection matters. Meanwhile, his practice specially focused on commerciallitigation and arbitration, with extensive experiences in general commercialdisputes, shareholders and joint venture disputes, international tradedisputes, real estate and construction disputes, banking and insolvencylitigation and contentious regulatory disputes. In thefield of dispute resolution, George Zhang has engaged in hundreds of commerciallitigation and arbitration cases since starting his career. He is familiar withvarious litigation laws and arbitration rules, and has a deep understanding oflitigation procedures and skills. He has formed his own distinctive litigationstyle and is competent for complex commercial dispute resolution. George canprovide clients with comprehensive solutions based on their position.
- Represented a municipal finance bureau in a loancontract dispute between it and an energy group limited company with a subjectmatter of RMB 800 million. The case was heard in the first instance by theShandong High Court and heard in the second instance by the Supreme Court. Theclient finally won the case.
- Represented a leasing company in a dispute overa sales and purchase contract with a manufacturing company. After losing thefirst trial, the second trial agency idea obtained the approval of Fujian HighCourt which forced the other party to withdraw the lawsuit.
- Represented a natural person in its dispute overa share capital increase agreement involving a Canadian company with a subjectmatter of approximately RMB 100 million, which was arbitrated by CIETAC and eventuallywithdrawn by the other party.
- Represented a well-known advertisingcompany in a series of disputes with its clients and agencies, with a totalcase value of over RMB 300 million, achieving great success.
- Represented a miningcompany in a dispute over its cooperation framework agreement and cooperationagreement with a Hong Kong investment company limited, involving an equitydispute over a Lao mining company, with a subject matter of RMB 67 million.
- Represented a Germanauto parts company in a dispute with a machinery company over a development andsupply agreement with a subject matter of approximately RMB 20 million. Thecase was complex and was arbitrated by CIETAC. The arbitrator in the caseultimately ruled against most of the other party's arbitration claims.
