Before entering Dentons Shanghai, Ms. Zhan served in the Customs of the P. R. China for more than 20 years. She worked at sectors ranging from Customs Clearance, Price Verification and HS Code Classification, to Supervision of Processing Trade, Tax Reduction and Exemption, etc. She subsequently practiced in various customs functional departments such as the Statutes Department and the Supervision Clearance Department for many years, engaging in fields of trade control, administrative reconsideration, administrative litigation, and review of significant administrative penalty cases. During this period, she also worked as a customs public lawyer for almost ten years.

Ms. Zhan has accumulated extensive practical experience and familiarized herself with laws and regulations concerning international trade and Chinese customs affairs. After joining Dentons, she has chosen to take international trade as the vertical axis to conduct in-depth research and expand the business. Her current practice covers international trade-related criminal defence, administrative dispute resolution, civil and commercial dispute resolution, import and export compliance, and some extended businesses in the import and export field, such as AEO certification consulting. After years of steadfast devotion, Ms. Zhan has developed a more in-depth perspective about risk factors that may exist in the whole process of international trade, including criminal risks, administrative risks and commercial risks, therefore, she can quickly identify the core risks and provide valuable solutions and services to clients.
